CHECKING OUR SIX

On our first trip to London in 2003, my wife Joyce and I were waiting to watch the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. As the local police made sure the guards' path was clear, I grabbed this shot of a mounted policeman on his horse. In the still shot it looks like the horse is checking behind them to make sure everything was clear.

I was still shooting film at the time and this was shot on Tri-X film pushed two stops to ISO1600 in a Nikon F100. I shot the film with the push so I could carry just one camera and shoot both indoors and out. It added a little extra contrast to the images that I had always liked after shooting the film for 25 years.
