Raising the big top!

 I had been stringing for a little one-year old weekly newspaper in the Florida Panhandle for just a few months when I read that a circus was coming to a nearby town. I went over early one morning and caught a number of locals on scene for the raising of the big top. Originally shot in color, I converted the image to black&white as it is my preferred medium. Even in b&w, I fell the image conveys the interest of the folks that showed up.

 The last almost 21 years since this photo was captured have really hurt the small circus organizations as technology seeks to overwhelm them.
