Last image of 2020

Well, it is now January 1, 2021, and most folks are glad 2020 is over. However, the pessimist in me does not see the start of the New Year as truly an end to the previous as I believe nothing will change.

The latest threat to governments keeping people in lockdown is this supposedly more transmittable version of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. In America, I believe it will be used by local, state, AND federal authorities to keep their knees on the necks of the freedoms that Americans used to be able to enjoy. As of yesterday, only 6% of Americans had been confirmed with the latest version of the coronavirus. While the number of deaths have been more than the usual seasonal version of the H1N1 coronavirus, I do not believe keeping the ENTIRE WORLD in lockdown is doing anything other than furthering the socialistic causes of a few powerful, rich elites. Worldwide the number of confirmed cases is about 1.1% with America currently at confirmed cases of 6%. Adding up the recovered cases (12 million) with the number of deaths (343,000) yields a death rate of about 3%. And for this, governments are destroying small local businesses while big conglomerates like Amazon and Wal-Mart are deemed "essential".

To today's image, I spotted these two men in our town square (and our local businesses are doing better that many in larger cities such as Atlanta, New York City and Los Angeles, to name a few) near a local restaurant. This might make my "Pairs on the Square" theme just because I like the fact that one man is wearing a very dark sweatshirt (it was actually red but I added a green filter) and the other a very light sweatshirt. Add in that the man on the left is caucasian (noticeable only in his hands) and the other is black (I refuse to use the hyphenated version of political correctness) gives the image a high probability of making the final cut.

Well, no matter what, life goes on. Right now I just do not feel confident that is will continue in a direction that will open back up the freedoms that Americans used to have.
